Lately the Church hasn’t been to pleased with the State. In particular, Providence Bishop Thomas J. Tobin has forbidden Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy, Rhode Island Democrat, to receive the Roman Catholic sacrament of Holy Communion because of his advocacy of abortion rights. There is more to the story though. (more…)

In a manner fitting of the Obama administration, a bombshell was dropped on the American people last Friday afternoon. Eric Holder, the US Attorney General announced that he will be sending Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (self-proclaimed mastermind of 9-11) and 4 other Gitmo detainees to Manhattan to be tried for their crimes in CIVILIAN court as opposed to Military Tribunal. These Military Commissions have a long history going all the way back to the Revolutionary War. Having been most famously reinstituted back in 2001 by President George W. Bush, these commissions were upheld by the Supreme Court and Congress as recently as 2006 and 2009. Upon entering office, President Obama halted all Military Tribunals and now, dripping with twisted irony, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed (KSM) and his cohorts will be tried only blocks away from the location of the worst terror attack in US History, Ground Zero. Everyone is an exaggeration, but at times it sure does feel like the world hates Sarah Palin. In reality, her political presence is no more than any commentator, politician, or newsmaker. However, the mainstream media likes to make mega-stars and they’ve found a contender in Palin. Popular websites have entire pages dedicated to their bloggers items taking her to task. But its not just Palin, its many conservative women. Last week, Carrie Prejean was the enemy du jour. Initially marked with a scarlet letter for responding to a pageant question with her honest feelings about marriage, every mis-step this 22-year old woman now makes is another reason for liberals to openly mock her. Its no wonder many are asking why all the hatred and sexism towards these conservative women? (more…)

Then yesterday, I caught wind of a few states that noticed there were jobs created in non-existing congressional districts.
So let’s start from the beginning and sort it out. On Feb. 17, Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, at the request of President Obama. The act was created to help curb the effect of an ensuing economic crisis. Like any government program it is big and complex. It has three goals: (more…)

On October 24, 2009, President Obama signed a proclamation declaring the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic a National Emergency to facilitate our ability to respond to the pandemic. This will give The US Department of Health and Human Services the ability to waive legal requirements that could otherwise limit the ability of our nation’s health care system to respond to the surge of patients.
