“I Pledge…to Obama”

Salt Lake City Tribune recently reported this video was shown to elementary students in Eagle Bay.  This is just one school reporting it, but you know it’s been shown elsewhere.  With the recent news that Obama would be giving an internet-based school speech with talking points for teachers; this video is coming under more scrunity. This is some freaky Jonestown-eque stuff.  Watch it here…but KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF THE KOOL-AID!

UPDATE: Obama aides announced this afternoon they were changing some language in the attached lesson plan given to teachers as a supplement to the speech. Here is one major change:

Among the activities initially suggested for pre-K to 6th grade students was to “write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president.”

The suggestion about writing letters has since been changed to: “Write letters to themselves about how they can achieve their short-term and long-term education goals. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.”

                                                Progressives are becoming more and more disheartened by the lack of progress to pass Universal Health Care by their Democratic leadership in Washington and are starting to vocalize their displeasure.  For example, on Friday’s Real Time with Bill Maher, guest Bill Moyers said, “too many Democrats have had their spines surgically removed.”  Over the last few weeks while Congress has been on recess, several liberal pundits and talk show hosts have shared this “spineless” critique of their elected officials.  Meanwhile, the polls have continued to drop against Obama; down to 50%, his lowest ever in the Gallup poll, led by a decrease in August by his largest support demos.  With all hell breaking loose at the Capitol, someone needs to step in and guide the Democratic Party.  That man?  Bob Dole.
