Take at look at the latest Q and A with Nancy Pelosi. The Speaker is ready to have health care reform pushed through no matter what the stakes are.
She disguises her socialist opinion by saying this will lower cost to all. Well, we can agree that it will lower cost for business’s who will no longer need to supply any form of insurance. That is an easy budget cut for any business. Plenty of families would also save money on health insurance. No longer will they have to worry about complicated co-pays and coverages. They will be able to simply differ to the government’s cover all program.
“Lower cost for the economy so health care doesn’t take such a big chuck”…not sure where she gets that idea. Everywhere I look the new plan will be adding to the deficit.
Once again we return to the age old question of what role does the government play in our lives. The Speaker was candid about this and said a bi-partisan effort will be a struggle since Republicans don’t believe in that role for government. Graciously, she said “if there are ways for Republicans to participate, that’s fine”. This is exactly the type of verbiage that has moderate Americans fed up. These people are elected by their constituents and should be held accountable. It is not acceptable to take a problem (health care) and turn it into a politically motivated debate. I truly believed that then Senator Obama would be able to “change” that type of political environment in Washington. I am not blaming him because he has to deal with a strong liberal machine in Congress, but that is no excuse for getting walked all over in every area.
